You never know when you might be the first person on the scene of an emergency and will need to provide assistance to stop uncontrolled bleeding — the number one cause of preventable death after injury.

South Texas Health System® McAllen is offering free STOP THE BLEED® courses to train you on how to control bleeding in an injured person before emergency personnel arrive. This interactive class will combine a formal presentation and hands-on practice of:

  • Direct pressure application
  • Wound packing
  • How to use a tourniquet to control bleeding until help arrives

The class is FREE of charge and open to anyone over the age of 12. Each class will have 20 spots.
